Wolverines Drop Second in a Row, Lose to Lawrence Tech 73-68

DETROIT, Mich. - The University of Michigan- Dearborn Wolverines (4-16, 1-11) dropped a home contest Wednesday night (Jan. 18) to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (11-8, 7-4). The contest played at Wayne State's Matthaei Center was a home game for Dearborn. The Wolverines led by one at halftime, 31-30, but the Blue Devils took control of a close game in the second half, winning by a final score of 73-68. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Senior guard, Elwood Tomlinson, led the way for the Wolverines scoring 16 points on 6-14 shooting, coming off the bench. Sophomore guard Maurice Anderson added 12 points. While sophomore forward Jimmy Breaux once again led the team in rebounds with 13, freshman guard Ibrahim Muhamed finished the game with three assists.

 

Lawrence Tech Leaders 

Gunner Gustafson scored 17 points and grabbed 14 boards for the visiting Blue Devils, while Andrew Winn added 17 points with 10 rebounds. Nathaniel Ward rounded out the scoring for the away team with 12 points off the bench. 

 

Inside the Game

In a back-and-forth game, Lawrence Tech narrowly outshot Dearborn 41.2% to 39.4%. The game was close until the visiting team took control, stretching the lead to nine with 1:36 to go in the second half. The Wolverines attempted to extend the game by fouling and sending the Blue Devils to the line. However, Dearborn would get to within five before time eventually ran out.

Dearborn heads to Ann Arbor for a matchup with Concordia University at Cardinal Fieldhouse. The contest is slated for Saturday (Jan.21) at 3:00.
