Tomlinson Scores 1,000th Career Point in Wolverine loss to Siena Heights

DETROIT, Mich.- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-19, 1-14) men's basketball team lost to the Siena Heights Saints (6-16, 4-11) on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 28) 104-88, the team's fifth loss in a row-all in conference games. The contest was a home game for Dearborn at Wayne State's Matthaei Center in Detroit. The Wolverines kept it close, trailing by only six at halftime, 48-42. However, the second half would be their undoing as they fell behind by as many as 23 points. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Once again, sophomore Maurice Anderson led the Wolverines in scoring 23 points. Senior Elwood Tomlinson netted 20 points and led the team with five assists. Junior Vyshonn Munson rounded out the scoring leaders with 14 points while leading the team in rebounds with eight. 

 

Siena Heights Leaders

Delano Williams scored a game-high 36 points for the visiting Saints. Colin Nutter had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Davon Walker added 16 points. Curtis Bell III had 15 rebounds and six assists to lead his team in both categories.  

 

Inside the Game

Dearborn scored 88 points for the second game in a row on 42.3% shooting from the field. It would not be enough, as they allowed their opponent to break the century mark for the second game in a row. The Saints would score 104 on the Wolverines while shooting a blistering 65% from the field. 

The story of the game, though, was senior guard Tomlinson scoring his 1,000th career point as a Wolverine. The career milestone for Tomlinson came on a made 3-pointer with just 41 seconds remaining in the contest.

Dearborn travels to Grand Rapids for a matchup with Cornerstone University on Wednesday (Feb. 1). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
