Aquinas Spoils UM-Dearborn’s Big Night, Wolverines Lose 72-61

DEARBORN, Mich- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-22, 1-17) men's basketball team lost to the Aquinas College Saints (11-13, 7-10)  72-61 on Wednesday (Feb. 8) night. The game was UM-Dearborn's first on their newly renovated court in two years. A close game with the Wolverines battling to the final buzzer ends with their eighth loss in a row- all conference matchups. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Sophomore Maurice Anderson was the team leader in points scored and rebounds, with 24 points and eight boards. Sophomore Troy Campbell and freshman Thoma Dillard IV both finished the game with ten points each. Vyshonn Munson led the Wolverines with four assists in the contest.  

 

Aquinas Leaders

Donovan Brown-Boyd led the Saints with a double-double scoring 21 points with 11 rebounds. Gabe Overway had a double-double of his own with 20 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. Ryan Weir netted 11 points, and Peyton Harley dished out five assists to round out the scoring leaders for the visiting team. 

 

Inside the Game 

The Wolverines kept it close, outshooting the Saints 42.1% to 36.2% for the game. However, Aquinas was fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive and overpowered the Wolverines in the second half, spoiling a historic night with the return of basketball to Dearborn. 

 

Next Up 

The Wolverines welcome Madonna University to Dearborn for a conference matchup Saturday (Feb. 11). Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
