Strong Start Not Enough, Wolverines Lose to Lourdes 95-85

LIVONIAMich. - The University of Michigan- Dearborn (4-15, 1-10) Men's basketball team lost to Lourdes University (14-5, 8-3) 95-85 on their temporary home floor at Madonna University Saturday (Jan.14) afternoon. Despite a strong start by the Wolverines, the Gray Wolves overcame an early eight-point deficit to win. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Sophomore guard Maurice Anderson had a double-double pouring in 30 points on 12-22 shooting, including 5-8 from 3-point range and grabbing 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Ibrahim Mohamed added 23 points on 8-15 shooting with 3-7 from behind the arc. Sophomore forward Jimmy Breaux led the way in rebounds with 11 and added eight points in the contest.  

 

Lourdes University Leaders

Cliff Snow and Jackie Harris had double-doubles for the visiting Gray Wolves. Snow led the way with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Harris scored 24 with 11 boards. Little Anderson rounded out the top three with 15 points on 7-8 shooting from the charity stripe. 

 

Inside the Game

The Wolverines started the game on an 8-0 run, but the Gray Wolves took control quickly after that, taking a 48-35 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Wolverines again started the second half strong, pulling within seven points of the Gray Wolves with just under three minutes remaining. With the score 83-76 at the 2:59 mark of the second half, Lourdes outscored Dearborn 12-9 to preserve the win.
