Strong Second-Half Lifts Saints Over Wolverines

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-14, 0-9) men's basketball team got off to a strong start at the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday (Jan. 9). However, the Siena Heights Saints(5-11, 2-6) weathered the storm and took down Dearborn 106-98. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Elwood Tomlinson was a perfect 5-5 from the field in the first half, leading the Wolverines with 21 points. Ibrahim Mohamed poured in 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting and a perfect 4-4 from behind the arc. Maurice Anderson added 19 points of his own, drilling eight of his fifteen jumpers, and tallied four rebounds, assists, and steals. Vyshonn Munson was 7-of-9 from the field and 3-3 from the three-point line to give himself 18 points on the night. Thomas Dillard IV rounded out the Wolverines in double figures with 10 points.

 

 Dearborn shot 90% from the three-point line in the first half, shooting 10-of-11. Dearborn did not attempt a free throw in the opening half but shooting the ball at a 59.4% clip helped them hold a four-point lead in the first half. 

 

Siena Heights Leaders

Muhammed Zoure led the Saints with a game-high 36 points on a spectacular 14-of-15 from the field and 8-of-12 from the charity stripe. Zoure finished just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds. Delano Williams added 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. Curtis Bell III recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. Bell finished just shy of a triple-double with seven assists. Davin Walker chipped in 15 points, while T.J. Hallett rounded out the Saints in double digits with 12 points. 

 

The Saints shot 64.4% from the field (38-59) and outrebounded the Wolverines 36-21.
