Dearborn, MICH. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce Brendan Nearing as the next Sports Information Director & Wellness Center Coordinator.

Nearing arrived in Dearborn in May of 2022 after previously working at West Virginia Wesleyan College as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information department from August 2020-April 2022.

Nearing served as the primary media contact for eight Division II athletic teams while handling all of the department's creative media responsibilities and attaining his MBA. The Saline, Mich., native graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2019 and pitched on the Laker baseball team (2016-2019). 

"We are excited to add Brendan to our staff," Interim Athletics Director Bryan Earl said. "Brendan has a great deal of knowledge and experience at the collegiate level and will make a great addition to our team."

Nearing will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center as well as leading our Sports Information Department.
