Steve Kornacki Named UM-Dearborn Sports Information Director & Wellness Center Coordinator

DEARBORN, Mich, - The University of Michigan-Dearborn is excited to announce the hiring of Steve Kornacki as the UM-Dearborn Sports Information Director & Wellness Center Coordinator.

Kornacki spent six years (2014-2020) in Ann Arbor as the University of Michigan athletic department's website feature writer and columnist at MGoBlue.com.

"We're very excited to have Steve join our team," Interim Athletics Director Bryan Earl said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his career and we look forward to see how Steve can continue to grow the coverage of Michigan-Dearborn Athletics."

Kornacki covered the Wolverines in their runs to the College World Series championship series in both baseball and softball, the men's basketball Final Four, men's ice hockey Frozen Four, and women's basketball NIT championship.

Kornacki has won numerous national and state writing awards for the Detroit Free Press, Tampa Tribune, Orlando Sentinel, MLive.com, Ann Arbor News, Oakland Press, Key West Citizen and the website at FOX Sports Detroit – where he also appeared as a studio guest and did podcasts from spring training with the Tigers. He was the Detroit correspondent for Sports Illustrated and has authored three books on the Wolverines – one of which was co-authored with his son, Derek.

He and wife Mary have three sons and four grandchildren. Both are Eastern Michigan University graduates and reside in Plymouth. Steve enjoys swimming, working out, reading, classic rock music and comedy.
