Wolverine Golfer Saad Takes Tournament Medalist Honors

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- Mahmoud Saad, a University of Michigan-Dearborn sophomore golfer, birdied the playoff hole to take individual medalist honors Saturday at Olivet College's Lou Collins Memorial Tour.

 Saad, from Dearborn Divine Child, and Kalamazoo College's Parker Pickell shot identical, two-under-par 142s to finish tied after two rounds of play at the Bedford Valley Country Club.

 Saad shot the low round in the tournament with a 68 during the final 18 holes after carding a 74 in Friday's opening round.

 The Wolverines finished tied for fifth in team play with Calvin University with a score of 608 after shooting 301 Friday and 307 Saturday in season-opening play.

 UM-Dearborn interim coach Howard Inch's other top scorers: (T13th) Brandon Tirador 73-77—150; (T16TH) Nick Metaxas 74-77—151; (T57th) Ryan Gniewek 80-85—165; and (T65th) Matt Kosiba 81-88—169.
