Serra Scores Goal in Third Consecutive Game

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Wolverine midfielder Vito Serra scored a goal in his third consecutive game Wednesday night (Sept. 29), but Lawrence Tech powered its way to a 5-1 win in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference soccer matchup.

Serra, the senior captain from Macomb Dakota High, beat Blue Devils goalie Riley Alexander in the 63rd minute on an unassisted goal.

Serra has a team-high four goals this season, and each has come in the last five games for the University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-8, 0-3 WHAC). He's also scored against Taylor, St. Francis (Ind.) and Indiana Tech.

Skander Larfaoui paced Lawrence Tech (7-3, 3-0) with two goals that provided a 3-0 lead before halftime.

Junior midfielder Jason Soltis (Plymouth Salem) had the Wolverines' other two shots on goal in the contest. UM-Dearborn goalie Everest Brace made five saves.

Coach Worteh Sampson's team travels Saturday afternoon to play Lourdes in Sylvania, Ohio.
