Wolverines claw back, but Rochester holds on for the win

DEARBORN, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team returned to action against the Rochester University Warriors Wednesday night in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup.

The first half saw the Warriors start hot building a lead that reached as much as 12. However, the Wolverines we able to chip away, finding themselves down eight at the break. Rochester University would regain the big lead in the second half, pushing it as high as 16. The Wolverine offense would once again claw back, trimming the Warrior lead to one as Maurice Anderson connected on a three-pointer with 49 seconds remaining. However, Rochester University would get the next four points handing UM-Dearborn the 69-63 defeat.

Leading the Wolverines was Elwood Tomlinson with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Anderson would add 16 points. Jimmy Breaux cleaned up in the paint adding six points and 12 rebounds.

The Warriors were led by Diego Robinson with a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-15 overall and 1-11 in the WHAC.

 

The Wolverines return to action against the Indiana Tech Warriors on Senior Day at 3 pm Saturday afternoon at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Mich.
