Wolverines fall in season opener against Spring Arbor

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season on the road Saturday afternoon against Spring Arbor University, the first game under new head coach Domenic Policicchio III.

The UM-Dearborn offense had a hard time getting things going in the first half, as Spring Arbor took a 21 point lead into the break. The Wolverines would bounce back in the second half, however the Cougars would pull away with the 73-45 victory. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 0-1 on the season.

The Wolverines were led by Maurice Anderson with a game-high 15 points, while Jimmy Breaux and Jason Gigliotti would clean up with 11 and eight rebounds, respectively.

Spring Arbor University was led by Daniel Cluster with 13 points, while Kevyn Robertson recorded 10 rebound and Austin Braun added a game-high 11 assists.

UM-Dearborn will play its next two games on the road against St. Francis (10/27) and Indiana-East (11/2). The Wolverines will have their home-opener at 4pm on Saturday, November 6th against Montana State University Northern and will then open up conference play against Rochester University at 7:30pm on Wednesday, November 10th.

All home games will be played at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Mich. with the exception of 12/4 and 1/8. These games will be played at Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena At The PAAAC in Livonia, Mich.
