Hot Shooting Concordia Downs Men’s Basketball

Dearborn, Mich. – The men's basketball team hosted the Concordia University Cardinals in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up Saturday played at Henry Ford College.  After dropping a close non-conference game to Grace Christian on Wednesday, UM-Dearborn was looking to get on track against Concordia.  Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they ran into a hot-shooting Cardinal's team.  Concordia's Thomas Hronis made nine three-pointers as he scored a game-high 31 points as Concordia won 88-69.

The first half saw a back and forth game as both teams shot the ball well.  Concordia shot 53% from the field in the first half, while UM-Dearborn shot 49% in the opening half.  The biggest difference between the two teams in the first half was three-point shooting.  The Wolverines shot 25% from behind the arc while the Cardinals shot 47%, giving them a 40-38 lead at halftime.

Concordia continued to shoot the ball well in the second half shooting 55% in the second half, including 43% behind the three-point arc.  UM-Dearborn could not keep pace with Concordia's shooting and fell to 1-6 in the WHAC with the loss.

Freshman Jimmy Breaux was lights out as he went 11-14 from the field to score a team-high 24 points in just 26 minutes.  Sophomore Troy Campbell added 11 points, and junior Vyshonn Munson nearly had a double-double as he scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

The men's basketball team will be off until Friday when they travel to Schuylkill, Pennsylvania, to take on Penn State Schuylkill two times over the weekend.
