Men’s Basketball Drops a Close One at Grace Christian

Wyoming, Mich. – The men's basketball team traveled to Wyoming, Michigan, to take on the Grace Christian University Tigers in a non-conference game.  Grace Christian started out quickly and built an 11 point lead at two different times in the first half.  UM-Dearborn would battle back and cut the deficit the five points at halftime.  Back-to-back three-pointers by the Wolverines got them within one point, but the Tigers would score the final four points of the half to lead 36-31.

In the second half, UM-Dearborn would tie the game and then eventually take a four-point lead on a basket by senior Reid Sellers with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game.  Grace Christian would go on a 9-0 run to take a five lead just four minutes later.  The Wolverines would get those points back and retake the lead as the two teams went back and forth late in the game.  Sellers would break a 63 all tie with a basket with just under two minutes remaining. The Tigers would answer with a three-pointer to take a one-point lead.  After a UM-Dearborn turnover, Grace Christian would add to its lead with two made free throws.  Sophomore Maurice Anderson would get the Wolverines within one point late in the game.  The defense would get the stop they needed. However, a last-second three-pointer by senior Elwood Tomlinson would not fall as Grace Christian would win 68-67.

Tomlinson and Sellers would lead the way for UM-Dearborn, scoring 18 points, while sophomore Ryan Len led the Wolverines with 11 assists.  The men's basketball team returns to WHAC play on Saturday when they host the Concordia University Cardinals at 3:00 pm at Henry Ford College.
