Wolverines hit 14 threes in win over Wilberforce

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team defeated Wilberforce University in a nonconference contest Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines hit 14 3-pointers and took control in the second half to top the Bulldogs 82-53 to move to 10-19 overall heading into the final game of the season.

Zach Lattimer led the way offensively, scoring 17 points in 21 minutes. The freshman shot 5-for-6 from long range. Xavier Crofford added 11 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Cody Kegley finished with 10 points.

Jalen Paul recorded a team-leading eight assists, while Hamoudy Turfe added seven points and six rebounds off the bench in a career-high 21 minutes.

UM-Dearborn shot 27-for-56 from the field, 14-for-27 from long range and 14-for-18 from the line. The Wolverines outrebounded the Bulldogs 37-28, while adding 19 assists and 15 steals.

The Wolverines look to position themselves in the WHAC Postseason Tournament in a Senior Day matchup with Aquinas College at 3 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

NOTES: Chris Fazica scored his first points for UM-Dearborn with a second-half 3-pointer. Brandon Recto finished with five points, the first of his career as well.
