Madonna tops UM-Dearborn men 78-66

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team fell to (RV) Madonna University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Madonna hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to go into the halftime break up four and took control early in the second half, as the Crusaders earned the 78-66 win. The loss moves UM-Dearborn to 8-19 overall and 6-12 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines are in eighth place in the league standings, two games back of seventh with two league games remaining in the regular season, both at home.

Jalen Paul led the Wolverines with 14 points, including three 3-pointers, adding three steals. Cody Kegley and Jason Gigliotti each added 11 points.

The Wolverines shot 22-of-49 from the field, 5-of-18 from deep and 17-of-27 from the line.

Dwight Burton and Mark Mettie each finished with 23 points to lead the Crusaders. Mettie added a game-high 13 rebounds for a double-double.

The Wolverines will have a quick turnaround as they host Lawrence Tech at 7:30 pm Monday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. The game is a makeup from January 30.
