UM-Dearborn drops opener to Holy Cross

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team opened the 2018-19 season against Holy Cross College Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines (0-1) trailed by five at the break, but the Saints shot 53.6 percent in the final 20 minutes and pulled away to top UM-Dearborn 70-53.   

UM-Dearborn was led by junior Cody Kegley with 13 points and eight rebounds, while senior Mafiaion Joyner added 13 points and four rebounds. Freshman Zach Lattimer hit three 3-pointers to record nine points, while sophomore Jason Gigliotti added nine points and nine rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 17-of-54 from the field, 6-of-30 from deep and 13-of-24 from the line, while finishing with 12 assists and eight turnovers.

The Saints were led by Storm Cook with 15 points, while Robby Jimenez and DK Fox added 14 points each.

The Wolverines play their next seven away from Dearborn, starting against Goshen College in the Indiana Wesleyan University Classic at 8 pm Friday in Marian, Ind.
