UM-Dearborn rallies for win at Aquinas

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team earned a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win over Aquinas College on the road Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Wolverines trailed for the majority of the game, as the Saints led 48-39 midway through the second half. The UM-Dearborn defense, led by strong efforts from Jared Jackson and Ontario Burnett off the bench, held Aquinas to just seven points the rest of the way.

Cody Kegley made a layup with 20 seconds left to put UM-Dearborn up two and the defense held on to give the Wolverines the 58-55 win to push the team's record to 4-12 overall and 2-5 in the WHAC.

The Wolverine offense was led by Kegley with 23 points, including three 3-pointers, while Jason Gigliotti added a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

UM-Dearborn shot 19-of-57 from the field, 6-of-25 from deep and 14-of-19 from the line while outrebounding the Saints 43-39.

The Saints were led by DeShaun Lewis with 18 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for a double-double.

The Wolverines return after the New Year against Madonna University at 7:30 pm Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 in Livonia, Mich.
