Wolverines Drop Road Contest Against Mount Vernon Nazarene

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-3) volleyball team dropped a road contest against Mount Vernon Nazarene (7-0) on Monday (Aug 29). Regan Sliwinski led the Wolverines with nine kills and an impressive .500 swing percentage. 

 

Inside the Match

With the Cougars leading much of the first set, the Wolverines found themselves down 11-8. After two errors and a Kielee Tondryk kill, the Maize & Blue found themselves knotted up at 11. Both teams exchanged points before the Wolverines took a 16-14 lead after an Alyssa Bommarito ace. Both sides continued to battle, but the Cougars would give the final blow winning the first set 25-23. 

 

Set two saw UM-Dearborn jump out to an early 4-1 lead after Allie Federlein buried one and forced the Cougars into a timeout. After the Cougars tied it up at five, the Wolverines went on another run capped off by back-to-back kills by Regan Sliwinski. With a 12-10 lead, MVN would find their stride and fend off the Wolverines, winning the second set 25-18. 

 

Set three was controlled by the Cougars from start to finish. The Cougars were able to give the final blow winning in straight sets after a 25-19 victory in the third set. 

 

Up Next

The Wolverines head west as they play in the Saint Katherine Tournament in San Marcos, Calif. The Wolverine's first contest will be against Saint Katherine on Friday (Sept 2).
