Wolverines rally for 5-set win over Cardinals

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team earned a sweep of the season series with Concordia University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match Friday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The matchup between the Wolverines and the Cardinals went the distance as both teams traded off the first four sets with UM-Dearborn holding off Concordia in an exciting fifth set.

The set scores were 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 15-13. The win moves UM-Dearborn to 4-23 overall and 3-15 in the WHAC with two more matches left this season.

The Wolverines were led offensively by Mackenzie Zook and Gina Giacomini with 18 and 17 kills, respectively, while Regan Sliwinski added 16. Daniella Barile finished with a team-high 33 assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, Libero Mallory Lynch led UM-Dearborn with 25 digs, while Sliwinski added six total blocks.

The Wolverines return to action against Aquinas College at 7 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
