Volleyball opens play at Milligan Tournament

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Michigan Dearborn volleyball team dropped two contests on day one of the 2019 Milligan Mountain Madness Tournament Friday in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Wolverines fell to Bethel University in three sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 in the opener, while William Carey University topped UM-Dearborn in three sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-19.  The losses drop the Wolverines to 1-6 this season.

The Wolverines were led on offense against Bethel by Regan Sliwinski with eight kills, while Gina Giacomini added seven kills. Sabrina Giacomini finished with a team-high 14 assists, while Delaney Smith led the UM-Dearborn defense with 15 digs.

In the second match of the day, the Wolverines were led on offense by Bronte Michura with eight kills, while Daniella Barile recorded a team-high 13 assists. Smith led the defense once again with seven digs.

The Wolverines return to action on day two of the Milligan Mountain Madness tournament against Union College at 9 am Saturday.
