UM-Dearborn drops four-set match to UNOH

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team hosted the University of Northwestern Ohio in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

For the second straight day, the Wolverines fell in four sets, as UNOH took the match 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 2-14 overall and 1-6 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines had two set points in the first, but the Racers rallied with the final four points of the frame to go up 1-0. After UNOH won the second set, UM-Dearborn recovered to take the third, using a 6-0 run to erase a 19-15 deficit and again rallying with the final four points. A late rally by the Wolverines in the fourth fell short as UNOH held on for the victory.

Bronte Michura led the offense for UM-Dearborn with 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage, while adding two total blocks. Regan Sliwinski finished with 12 kills, three service aces, and two total blocks, while Gina Giacomini added 10 kills.

Mackenzie Zook recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Daniella Barile and Sabrina Giacomini recorded 22 and 20 assists, respectively. Mallory Lynch had a team-high 18 digs for the Wolverines.

Devon Heitkamp finished with a game-high 19 kills for UNOH, and Kayleigh Hulst added 45 assists.

UM-Dearborn returns to action in the first of four straight road contests against Aquinas College at 7 pm Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
