UM-Dearborn closes weekend at Milligan

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team closed play at the 2019 Milligan Mountain Madness Tournament with two more matches Saturday in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Wolverines dropped a close five-set match to Union College, 19-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-12. In the final match of the trip, UM-Dearborn fell to host school (RV) Milligan College in four sets, 25-14, 13-25, 25-16, 25-19. The losses drop UM-Dearborn 1-8 on the season. 

Against Union, three Wolverines finished with double-digit kills, led by Bronte Michura with 15, while Gina Giacomini added 12 and Regan Sliwinski finished with 11. Sabrina Giacomini recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 16 sigs, while Daniella Barile also had a double-double with 20 assists and 12 digs.

Delaney Smith recorded 15 digs, while Olivia Pellegrini and Mallory Lynch added 11 and 10, respectively.

In the finale against Milligan, Gina Giacomini had a team-high 10 kills, while Barile finished with 20 assists and Smith had 13 digs.

The Wolverines return to action in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener against Lawrence Tech at 7 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.
