UM-Dearborn rallies for 5-set win at CUAA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team rallied from two sets down to defeat Concordia University in five on the road Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines dropped the first two sets but rebounded to take the third and the fourth in convincing fashion, setting up a fifth and final set. Regan Sliwinski had four kills in the final set, while Gina Giacomini added three to push UM-Dearborn to the win.

The set scores were 15-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-12. The win moves UM-Dearborn to 3-15 overall and 2-7 in the WHAC.

The UM-Dearborn defense led the rally, with freshman Libero Mallory Lynch recording a career-high 45 digs, while Mackenzie Zook added 30 digs. The Wolverines put up 20 total blocks at the net as a team, led by Sliwinski with nine.

Gina Giacomini and Sliwinski each recorded 13 kills, while Sabrina Giacomini added 23 assists and 19 digs. Daniella Barile finished with 20 assists and 16 digs.

Concordia was led by Gabrielle den Boer with 14 kills.

The Wolverines return to action against Rochester University at 7 pm Wednesday in Rochester Hills, Mich.
