Wolverines Send Seniors Out in Style Against Madonna

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (8-19, 5-14) women's basketball team honored its three seniors on Saturday (Feb. 11) at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. UM-Dearborn's defense was the difference maker in the contest as the Wolverines forced the Madonna Crusaders (1-23, 0-18) into 18 turnovers in a 70-57 victory. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Siena Smith led the Wolverines with 19 points on 8-13 shooting. In addition, Smith ripped down 10 rebounds to record a double-double in the contest. Senior guard Abby Fullerton had a strong game scoring 15 points in her final game at The Fieldhouse. Fullerton was a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line and dished out a team-high four assists. Jordan Banks was the last Wolverine in double digits scoring 10 points and shooting 6-7 from the charity stripe. The Wolverines scored 12 points off of Crusader turnovers. 

 

Madonna Leaders

Paige Humerickhouse led the Crusaders with 19 points and four rebounds. Delani Robinson chipped in 16 points on 7-15 shooting, while Ashley Hill rounded out the scoring with 11 points on seven made free throws. 

 

Inside the Game

UM-Dearborn shot 37.5% from the floor and shot 25-34 from the free-throw line. Dearborn protected the rock committing just 10 turnovers on the afternoon. The Wolverines took a 4-2 lead with 9:01 left in the first quarter and would not relinquish their lead over the final 39 minutes of the contest.

UM-Dearborn plays its regular season finale on Wednesday (Feb. 15) at Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
