UM-D Drops Non-Conference Matchup Against Grace

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-1) women's basketball team hit the road for a non-conference matchup against Grace College (1-0) on Saturday (Oct. 29). The Lancers controlled the matchup winning 93-51 inside the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center.

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Matalina Ochoa led the Wolverines with eight points and was 2-2 from behind the arc. Ochoa and Sara Malak both ripped down five rebounds to lead the Wolverines. 

 

Grace Leaders 

The Lancers had five players score in double digits, with Karlee Feldman leading all scorers with 28 points on 12-16 shooting. Feldman secured 15 rebounds with nine offensive boards to lead the Lancers. Maddie Ryman scored 16 points and had five steals while shooting 7-9 from the free-throw line. 

 

Inside the Game

Brooklyn Taylor started the scoring with a three-pointer off an India Grissom dime to give the Wolverines a 3-0 lead. The Lancers would go on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes before Sydney Dixon converted a layup to make it 10-5. The Lancers closed the first period on a 13-2 run to take a 16-point lead after the first quarter. 

 

Grissom finished through contact to get the bucket and the foul to start the second quarter. Ochoa would hit her first of two triples with 1:01 left in the half. Grace would take a 44-19 lead into the locker room. 

 

The Wolverines had their best quarter coming out of the locker room as they shot 47% from the field and drilled both of their three-point attempts in the third quarter. Ochoa led the way with five points, while Dixon and Abby Fullerton chipped in four points. 

 

Grace would keep the pressure on the Wolverines as they would close the Maize & Blue out in the fourth quarter for the eventual 93-51 victory.
