Wolverines Squeak Out Narrow Victory in Series Finale Against Penn State Schuylkill

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-12) women's basketball team played a non-conference matchup against Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday (Dec. 20) at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines won a back-and-forth affair 63-59. 

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

The Wolverines were carried by a balanced attack on offense with 10 players scoring baskets for the Maize & Blue. Dearborn shot 9-of-25 from behind the arc with Siena Smith connecting on three of her five triples. Smith led the way with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting and added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Wolverine rim protectors were on full display as the team denied eight Schuylkill attempts at the rim. Briana Hurt led the way with three while Lily Miller denied two. Brooklyn Taylor was crucial for the Wolverines' hauling in eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists in the victory. Dearborn shot 16-of-23 from the charity stripe which proved to be the difference maker in the contest. 

 

Penn State Schuylkill Leaders

Tajae Stevenson led Schuylkill with 14 points and nine rebounds. Three other members chipped in seven points. Schuylkill outrebounded Dearborn 49-36 and hauled in 20 offensive rebounds in the contest. Schuylkill was able to force Dearborn into 16 turnovers and outscored Dearborn 30-18 in the paint.
