Byrd Wins WHAC Offensive Player of the Week

DEARBORN, Mich. – For the third time this season, the #17 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team has had an individual win Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Bailey Byrd was this week's recipient after bagging five goals in two games, including a hat-trick and the overtime winner against No. 9 Indiana Tech. 

 Byrd, a sophomore from Wyandotte, Mich., has already had an illustrious career in the Maize & Blue after winning Newcomer of the Year during his freshman campaign. Byrd has been lighting up the scoresheet this year, tallying 42 points in 13 games. Byrd is second on the team in goals (18), points (42,) and assists (24). 

 Byrd secured Offensive Player of the Week after carrying the Wolverines to a 2-0 week over No. 9 Indiana Tech. The winger scored two goals in a 5-3 victory at Tech, and in the home finale, Byrd recorded a hat-trick and scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 overtime victory. 

 The Wolverine Ice Hockey team is currently 13-0-0 and 10-0-0 in conference play.
