DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 14 University of Michigan-Dearborn (13-9-2, 6-7-1) women's ice hockey team battled back from a 3-1 deficit to take No. 10 Miami University (OH) 15-7-1, 10-4-0) in a game with major playoff implications. Dearborn scored four unanswered goals in the third period to take a 5-3 lead on Friday (Feb. 10) inside the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

After neither team could push anything across the goal line in the first period, Vivian Kowalske gave Dearborn a 1-0 lead early in the second period as she put home a rebound off of an Andi Evers shot right outside of the crease. Cadence Pero added a secondary assist on the goal. The Redhawks looked to have taken complete control of the contest as they scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead heading into the final stanza.

With the Wolverines honoring their five outstanding seniors before the game, the Maize & Blue were playing with some added motivation in a game that already meant so much for postseason play. The Wolverines leaned on star sophomore Samantha Sensoli as she scored just 1:18 into the third period to give UM-Dearborn some life. Cadence Pero would tie up the contest just seven minutes later when Evers and Kowalske set her up perfectly.

With the momentum flipped, the Wolverines looked to take over the game as Pero threw a puck over to senior Isabella Welke at the point. Welke fired the puck on the net and took a tricky deflection off the Redhawk defender and into the back of the net for UM-Dearborn's third goal of the period. Kowalske added some much-needed insurance as Kowalske scored a crucial goal with time winding down to secure the 5-3 victory.
