DEARBORN, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-3-0, 1-3-0) women's ice hockey team got off to a fast start on Friday (Oct. 21) against the Concordia (MI) Cardinals (3-3-0). The Cardinals would claw back into the contest and score a late third-period goal to win 3-2.
Kaylee Keledjian broke open the scoring when Zoe Zaifman threw a puck on the net, and evaded a pack of Cardinal defenders to the stick of Keledjian. Keledjian fired it on the net and beat the Cardinal goaltender for the 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game. Dearborn would extend their lead to two when Mali Sise intercepted a pass in the offensive zone and sniped one over the goalie's right shoulder. With 50 seconds left in the opening period, the Cardinals would break through the Wolverine defense and beat Victoria Hahn to bring CUAA within one.
Concordia would score two unanswered goals in the second and third periods to win the contest by a 3-2 final.
