Schroeder Leads Team in Blowout Win Against No. 31 Panthers

DEARBORN, Mich.- The University of Michigan- Dearborn (10-8-1) women's ice hockey team hosted the Davenport University Panthers (0-17-0) on Friday (Jan. 20) at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena. Madison Schroeder paced the Wolverine's potent attack, registering four points on the night.

 

The Panthers started strong, scoring 30 seconds into the game to take the early 1-0 lead. The Wolverines came back to tie the game up on the power play when Schroder found the back of the net. After scoring three more unanswered, the period ended with the Wolverines up 4-1. 

 

The Wolverines continued to attack, scoring six goals by five different players in the second period, one coming from Andi Evers unassisted on the power play. Davenport scored once on a breakaway, leaving the game at 10-2 at the end of the second period.

 

Two shorthanded goals came from Samantha Sensoli and Zoe Zaifman just two minutes and 14 seconds apart at the end of the third. With the Panthers only striking once more, the Wolverines took the blowout game 14-3.   

 

Madison Schroder led the game in points, scoring her first hat-trick of the season and assisting one goal for a total of four points.

The Wolverines look to take on No. 7 Miami of Ohio Redhawks next Friday (Jan. 27) at the Goggin Ice Center in Oxford, Ohio. Puck drop at 6 pm.
