Evers Nets Hat-Trick in 5-5 Tie Against Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (7-3-1, 4-3-1) women's ice hockey team traveled to East Lansing for a matchup against the Michigan State Spartans (4-3-2, 2-3-1). Andi Evers recorded a hat-trick in a 5-5 tie on Sunday (Nov. 6).

 

The Spartans got on the board first, scoring just 69 seconds into the game. However, Evers scored her first goal of the game just 36 seconds later as Samantha Sensoli had an assist on the goal. The Spartans would score two unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first period. 

 

The Wolverine special teams were on full display in the second period as Vivian Kowalske scored 59 seconds into the period on a five-on-four. Taylor Spencer provided an assist on the goal. Charlise Wharram would tie the contest up at three as she scored an unassisted goal on the power play. However, MSU would again answer with two unanswered goals and take a 5-3 lead into the final period. 

 

Evers would finish her hat-trick just 1:47 into the period as she scored her second goal 15 seconds into the period. 1:17 later, Evers capped off her hat trick and tied the contest at five. Neither team would take the lead in the final 19 minutes of the period, and the game was called at the end of regulation.
