LTU tops UM-Dearborn women in WHAC matchup

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team battled through a back-and-fourth first half against Lawrence Tech, but the Blue Devil offense stifled the Wolverines down the stretch in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday in Southfield, Mich.

The Wolverines trailed by a single point at the break, but were outscored by 14 in the second to fall 66-51. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the WHAC.

Megan Swick (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) led the Wolverine offense with 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting, while adding five rebounds. Emily Heinrich (SO/South Lyon, MI) finished with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Meredith Williams (JR/Novi, Mich.) added eight points and four assists, while Kendall Rose (SO/Canton, MI) finished with seven points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Wolverines shot 20-of-55 from the field, 6-of-23 from deep and 5-of-9 from the line. UM-Dearborn was outrebounded 32-29, while finishing with 12 assists and 16 turnovers.

Five LTU players finished in double figures, led by Christina Henry with 13 points off the bench. Allison Kitchens added 12 points, including the 1,000th of her career. The Blue Devils shot 25-of-58 from the field, 7-of-28 from behind the 3-point line and 9-of-13 from the free-throw line.

The Wolverines look to break through in the WHAC at Concordia University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
