Lourdes Pulls Away from Wolverine Women in Second Half

SYLVANIA, Ohio - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team stayed close with Lourdes University throughout a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Sylvania, Ohio.

The Gray Wolves pulled away in the fourth quarter and held on to top the Wolverines 81-71. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines were led by Megan Swick (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) with 17 points on 5-of-14 shooting, while making three 3-pointers. Emily Heinrich (SO/South Lyon, MI) was 5-of-9 from the field for 14 points with four rebounds, while Natalie Spala (SO/Livonia, MI) added 12 points.

Bri Alspaugh (JR/St.Louis MI) came off the bench and narrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Kendall Rose (SO/Canton, MI) added seven points and eight rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 24-of-59 from the field, 5-of-16 from deep and 18-of-27 from the line. Ball control hurt UM-Dearborn, as the team finished with 32 turnovers and 11 assists.

Molea Thompson scored a team-high 17 points for the Gray Wolves, while Kalena Harris added 14. The Gray Wolves were 25-of-65 from the field, 5-of-19 from behind the 3-point line and 26-of-38 from the free-throw line. Lourdes won the rebounding battle 44-42.

The Wolverines look to break through in the WHAC against Indiana Tech at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.
