Wolverines fall short in WHAC quarterfinals to Rochester

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team returned to action against the Rochester University Warriors in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference playoffs Tuesday night in Rochester Hills, Mich.

The Warriors would use a big first half, taking a 23-point lead over the Wolverines into the half. UM-Dearborn would rebound, outscoring Rochester University by four, however, the Warriors would shutdown the Wolverine offense in fourth quarter, handing UM-Dearborn a 102-67 defeat.

Four Wolverines reached double digits in scoring with Cydney Williams leading the way with 16 points. Maricela Macias and Mariah Taylor would add 15 and 14 points respectively, while Maya Barakat recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Warriors were led by the performances of Lexey Tobel, who finished with a game-high 30 points, and Elysia Mattos who 21 points and 10 assists for a double-double.

UM-Dearborn finishes the 2021-22 season 11-19 overall and 9-11 in the WHAC.
