Third Quarter Surge not Enough as Saints Down Wolverines

Livonia, Mich. – The women's basketball team hosted the Siena Height University Saints on Saturday in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up played at Madonna University's PAAC.  Siena Heights would start out strong scoring the game's first six points and taking a 12-5 lead into the second quarter.  The Saints would again score the first six points in the second quarter building a 14 point lead.  UM-Dearborn would chip away at the lead as the quarter progressed cutting the lead to nine at halftime.  

In the third quarter, the Wolverines found their rhythm scoring 25 points in the quarter and taking a two-point lead into the fourth quarter.  Seniors Ro'Zhane Wells and Mariah Taylor led the comeback for UM-Dearborn.  Wells led the charge with 10 points in the quarter, while Taylor had seven points in the quarter including a late steal and score to give the Wolverines a 44-42 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Siena Heights would score the first eight points of the fourth quarter as the Saints would regain the lead that they would not relinquish.  Siena Heights would outscore UM-Dearborn 24-7 in the fourth quarter to win 66-51.  Siena Heights improves to 4-2 in WHAC play while the loss drops UM-Dearborn to 1-5 in the WHAC.  Taylor led the Wolverines with 15 points while Wells added 12 points and each player had rebounds apiece.  Junior Abby Fullerton added 11 points and five assists.  

The women's basketball team returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Indianapolis to take on Marian University in a non-conference game at 7:00pm.
