Wolverines split pair of games in Pennsylvania

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team returned to action this past weekend, traveling to Schuylkill Haven, PA, for a pair of non-conference games against Penn St.-Schuylkill.

On Friday, the Wolverines found themselves down after the first quarter but were able to trim the deficit to one point at the half. The Nittany Lions would control the third quarter, out-scoring UM-Dearborn by 10 points. UM-Dearborn would respond in the final quarter. However, the attempted comeback fell short as the Wolverines fell 65-57.

Abby Fullerton led the Wolverines with 19 points, while Maya Barakat finished with 18 points and 18 assists for a double-double. 

Desiree Ellison would lead the Nittany Lions with a game-high 24 points while adding 11 rebounds.

On Saturday, UM-Dearborn would take a nine-point lead into the half and never look back, holding the Penn St.-Schuylkill offense to nine points in the fourth quarter. Four Wolverine players would finish in double-digits, with Ro'Zhane Wells leading the way with a game-high 17 points. Mariah Taylor recorded 14 points, while Maricela Macias and India Grissom would add 11 points and 10 points, respectively. 

The weekend split with the Nittany Lions moves UM-Dearborn to 3-13 overall while staying at 1-6 in the WHAC. 

The Wolverines return to action after the New Year against Roosevelt University at 5:30 pm on January 3rd at Lawrence Tech University.
