Wolverines fall to Lourdes in final seconds

LIVONIA, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team returned to action after the holiday break, taking on the Lourdes University Gray Wolves in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup in Livonia, Mich.

The Wolverines and Gray Wolves played a close first-half that saw UM-Dearborn take a two-point lead into halftime. The Wolverines would continue their strong play, finding themselves up by six after the third quarter. Lourdes University would push in the fourth, going up by one with nine seconds left. Cydney Williams would help keep UM-Dearborn alive, putting back an offensive rebound after a missed three-point attempt with six seconds remaining. However, the Gray Wolves would connect off an inbound pass as time expired, defeating the Wolverines 64-63.

Maya Barakat led the Wolverines with 15 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, while Ro'Zhane Wells would add 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists of her own. Cydney Williams and Mariah Taylor would finish with 10 and nine points, respectively.

Logan Ingram led the Gray Wolves with a game-high 17 points and eight rebounds. 

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-13 overall and 1-7 in the WHAC. 

The Wolverines return to action against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (Rescheduled from 1/5) at 5:30 pm on Monday, January 10th at the Don Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.
