Shooting Woes Prove Costly for Men's Basketball

Dearborn, MI - Poor shooting in the first half was too much to overcome for the men's basketball team on Saturday as they fell to the visiting Indiana Tech Warriors 70-57. The Warriors shot 55% in the first half, while the Wolverines shot 19%. Indiana Tech (14-6, 10-3) made 16 field goals in the first half while attempting 29 field goals. Michigan-Dearborn (9-11, 4-8) did not shoot the ball well but used nine first half offensive rebounds for second chance points to trail by 14 points at halftime.

The second half was a different story. Michigan-Dearborn shot the ball better, 47%, and eventually would cut the Indiana Tech lead to five points with just under 12 minutes left in the game. The Warriors lead would teeter between 8 and 12 points for most of the second half. Freshman guard Deonte Bell would cut the lead to seven points with three and half minutes left. Indiana Tech would respond scoring the next five points and make free throws down the stretch to win 70-57. Junior Marcus Williams led the Wolverines with 19 points while sophomore Jason Penn just missed out on a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. The men's basketball team will next host the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday at 7:30pm.
