Men's Basketball Loses to Cornerstone 94-78

Dearborn, MI - The men's basketball team hosted the defending NAIA Division II Champion Cornerstone University Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Early on defense was on display as each team struggled to score with just a total of six points scored in the first three minutes of the game. Cornerstone (9-2, 4-1) slowly built up a ten point lead midway through the first half. Michigan-Dearborn cut the deficit to single digits at eight points, but the Golden Eagles ended the first half on a 15-4 run as the Wolverines scored two points in the final six minutes of the half and trailed 49-30 at halftime.

Cornerstone built a 27 point lead five minutes into the second half. Michigan-Dearborn continued to play hard and chipped away at the deficit eventually falling 94-78. Both teams shot the ball well as Cornerstone shot 55% for the game while Michigan-Dearborn shot 48%. Sophomore Jason Penn led the Wolverines with 16 points while four other Wolverines finished with 10 or more points including freshman Xavier Crofford who had 13 points. The men's basketball team is off until Thursday when they host Wilberforce University at 7:30pm.
