Men's Basketball Takes a Loss

Dearborn, MI- The men's team played Davenport University on Saturday night with the home court advantage. However, playing on their own court was not a lucky factor for the Wolverines giving Davenport a 60-81 win. Both teams generated 36 rebounds, but Davenport outshot the Wolverines 38% by shooting nearly 50% from the field. Gage Throgmorton from Michigan scored 11 points by going 3 for 3 from behind the arch and 4 for 4 from the field. Jamiel Strickland led Dearborn with 17 points as Anthony Barley contributed 13.

Davenport began by putting the Wolverines behind early in the game, giving Davenport their largest lead of 16 points. Dearborn stepped to the free throw line four times, while Davenport was given fourteen opportunities. Burnett and Rich from Davenport produced a combining total of 25 points, whereas Strickland and Throgmorton generated 18 points for the Wolverines. Dearborn trailed behind with a halftime score of 28-40.

The second half had not gone any better for the Wolverines. Davenport was able to extend their lead to 26 points in this half. At the end of 40 minutes, Davenport had taken a 60-81 win.

The men's basketball team will next compete on Wednesday, January 21 at 7:30pm with the home court advantage.
