Wolverines roll in WHAC win over Saints

DEARBORN, Mich. - The No. 7 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team was back in action after three weeks off, hosting Aquinas College in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The Wolverines scored the first four goals of the game and topped the Saints 4-1. UM-Dearborn scored twice in each of the first two periods, improving to 10-3-2 overall and 3-0-0 in the WHAC.

Justin Dunn (SO/Trenton, MI) got the Wolverines going as he tipped in a shot from Troy Saunders (JR/Canton, Mich.) halfway through the first period. The Wolverines quickly followed it up with a goal from Tyler Groat (JR/Wyandotte, MI) on a nice pass from Christian Ramage (SO/Taylor, MI).

The second period saw UM-Dearborn goals from Nic LaBurn (JR/Northville, MI) and Jared Dedenbach (JR/Warren, MI), while Dunn, Groat and Tyler Dalton (JR/Northfield, OH) each added assists. Thomas Proudlock (JR/Southgate, MI) made 24 saves in goal for the Wolverines. The Saints only goal was scored by Zach Lloyd on the power play in the third.

The Wolverines will complete the second of the home-and-home with Aquinas as they travel to take on the Saints at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Mich.
