DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team controlled the pace of play against Rochester College throughout a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League contest Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
The No. 9 Wolverines scored two in the first and three in the second to pull away from the Warriors for a 6-0 win to move to 17-4-2 overall, 5-0-0 in the WHAC and 6-3-1 in the GLCHL.
Freshman Billy Brock (FR/Woodhaven, MI) broke out for the Wolverines with his first multi-goal game since joining the team, scoring one in the first and another in the second. Justin Dunn (SO/Trenton, MI) added a goal in the first, while Tyler Dalton (JR/Northfield, OH) and Kevin Bechard (JR/Trenton, MI) helped UM-Dearborn to a 5-0 lead after two. Tyler Groat (JR/Wyandotte, MI) added a goal in the final minute of regulation to put a cap on the win.
Goaltender Thomas Proudlock (JR/Southgate, MI) picked up the shutout with 30 saves in net for UM-Dearborn, earning his 10th win of the season.
Assists for the Wolverines went to Dunn with two, while Troy Saunders (JR/Canton, Mich.), Kyle Schnettler (SO/Metamora, Mich.), Andrew Palushaj (SR/Livonia, MI), Marcus McSweeney (SR/Chandler, Ariz.), John Ames (FR/Woodhaven, MI), John Barlow (JR/Shelby Twp, MI) and Bechard each added one.
The Wolverines continue a weekend series with the Warriors at 1:30 pm Saturday in Macomb, Mich.
