DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team hosted John Carroll University in a non-conference matchup Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

After winning a draw in the offensive zone early in the first period, Silas Johnson (FR/Calgary, Alberta, Canada) picked up the loose puck in front of the JCU goaltender to give the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead just over a minute after the opening faceoff. Justin Dunn (SO/Trenton, MI) recorded an assist on the play.

Chase Best (FR/Plymouth, MI) and Jared Dedenbach (JR/Warren, MI) each added a goal in the first period, while Zach Nichols (SO/Dearborn, MI) scored in the middle frame. The Wolverines improve to 9-1-2 on the season.

Five Wolverines recorded assists in the win, led by Dunn with two, while Tyler Groat (JR/Wyandotte, MI), Kyle Schnettler (SO/Metamora, Mich.), Kevin Bechard (JR/Trenton, MI) and Andrew Palushaj (SR/Livonia, MI) each added one.

The Wolverines will have the rest of the weekend off as they get set for a crucial Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League series next week against No. 2 Adrian College starting with the opener at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.
