Wolverines fall in four to No. 19 Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team looked to upset No. 19 Madonna University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Saturday at the MU Activities Center in Livonia, Mich.

In an opening set, the Wolverines, down 23-22, scored the final three points to take an early lead before dropping three straight sets to fall in four. The set scores were 25-23, 15-25, 19-25, 12-25.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines offensive leader was junior Bronte Michura with eight kills while sophomore Gina Giacomini added seven and senior Erin Parrinello pitched in with six.

Defensively, senior Katherine Nealy continued her strong play, along with Parrinello. The pair finished with six and five block assists, respectively. Senior Libero Caitlyn Carlson once again led the way with 20 digs, while senior Jayci Forster added 14.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play against Cornerstone University at 7 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.
