DEARBORN, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's hockey team returned to action with a weekend series against the Aquinas College Saints at the Southside Ice Arena in Bryon Center, Mich. on Friday night and at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.
After a scoreless first period, the Saints would strike first five minutes into the second. Isabella Welke would tie it up for the Wolverines with assists going to Leigh Farquhar and Cassidy Waugh just five minutes later. However, Aquinas College would score twice in a 12-second span with both goals coming from McKenna Kaczor. Waugh would trim the lead to one early in the third period, while Farquhar would tie the game late, forcing overtime. Farquhar would complete the comeback for UM-Dearborn in the sudden-death frame with an assist going to Paige Finlay with the Wolverines coming out on top 4-3.
Victoria Hahn got win in goal for UM-Dearborn, making 26 saves on the night.
Saturday night shift to the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse as the Wolverines looked to complete the weekend-series sweep.
UM-Dearborn would use a big first period, scoring three times and would never look back on its way to a 4-1 win over the Saints and earning the weekend-series sweep.
Farquhar would get things going, picking up where she left off the night before, adding a goal and an assist. Clare Murphy would add another four minutes later from Farquhar, while Erin Murphy would add another goal with an unassisted effort. Kaylee Keledjian would ice the game for the Wolverines with Paige Finlay getting the assist.
The weekend-series sweep moves the Wolverines to 10-6-2 overall and 8-6-2 in conference play.
Hahn would get the start again, coming away with another victory, making 16 saves in the game.
UM-Dearborn returns to action against the Concordia University Cardinals at 8:30 PM Friday, February 11th, at the Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea, Mich.
