Women’s Ice Hockey Sweeps Davenport

Dearborn, Mich. - The women's ice hockey team continued their winning ways this weekend as the Wolverines swept the Davenport University Panthers in a home-and-home series.  On Saturday night, UM-Dearborn defeated Davenport 8-1 in Grand Rapids to improve to 6-3-2 on the season.

On Friday night at the fieldhouse, the Wolverines started fast scoring four goals in the first period including the game's first goal just 45 seconds into the game cruising to a 9-3 win.  Senior Odisoula Argyris had a hat trick on the night and scored 45 seconds into the first and third periods.  Freshman Cassidy Waugh also had a hat trick on the night as the Wolverines outshot the Panthers 59-12. 

Senior Claudia Maguire added two goals and two assists on a night when the team honored her as she will be graduating next week.  In total, nine UM-Dearborn student-athletes had a point in the game as the team scored seven even strength goals and one power play goal and one shorthanded goal.  Sophomore Alexia Martinez got the start in net for the Wolverines and made nine saves in earning the victory.  Both teams played a disciplined game as there was a total of three penalties in the game.

The women's ice hockey team is off for a month as the semester is ending.  The team will return to action on January 14th when they travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Indiana Tech Warriors at 7:30pm.
