Wolverines, UM-AA settle for 4-4 tie

CANTON, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team returned to action Friday night, taking on the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor at the Arctic Edge in Canton, Mich.

The Wolverines would take a three-goal lead into the third, however Michigan-Ann Arbor stormed back, scoring the game-tying goal with one second left. The two clubs would play the extra five minutes, but would settle for the 4-4 tie.

Captain Brooke Spiegel opened the scoring two minutes in with the assist going to Kaylee Keledjian. Odisoula Argyris would put UM-Dearborn up two just three minutes later with Claudia Maguire and Isabella Welke adding assists. Spiegel would add two more goals in the second to complete the hat trick, the first being an unassisted effort and the second assisted by Paige Finlay.

However, Michigan-Ann Arbor would strike three times in the final nine minutes to force overtime, with the game ending in a tie.

The tie moves the Wolverines to 1-3-1 overall on the season.

Victoria Hahn would get the start in goal for UM-Dearborn, making 21 saves on the night, while Sandrine Ponnath started for UM-Ann Arbor, making 46 saves of her own.

The Wolverines return to action with a pair of road games this weekend against Grand Valley State University at 6pm Friday, November 12th at Griffs Georgetown in Grand Rapids, Mich. and against the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor at 5pm Saturday, November 13th at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich.
