UM-Ann Arbor holds on to top Wolverines

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team returned to action Friday night, taking on the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The Wolverines would score midway through the third in hopes to make a comeback, however UM-Ann Arbor would rely on strong goaltending, holding on for the 2-1 win.

Megan Mathews would get UM-AA on the board at the 16:52 mark of the first period with the assists going to Sofia Remelius and Jessy Simmer. UM-AA would add another goal a the 10:27 mark of the third period when Mariah Evans found the back of the net from Miki Rubin.

UM-Dearborn would respond just 16 seconds later, as Odisoula Argyris connected off of a pass from Clare Murphy. The Wolverines (UM-Dearborn) would pull goaltender Victoria Hahn with two minutes left in the game, in hopes of tying the game, but would run out of time.

Hahn played strong, making 22 saves in the game, while Sandrine Ponnath of UM-AA would stop 49 of the 50 shots she faced.

The loss drops the Wolverines to 1-3-0 overall on the season.

UM-Dearborn returns to action against the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor at 9pm, Friday, November 5th, at the Arctic Edge in Canton, Mich.
