DEARBORN, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-6-1, 0-3-0) men's soccer team took an early lead against No. 10 University of Northwestern Ohio (8-0-2, 3-0-0), but the Racers weathered the storm with a solid second-half to defeat the Wolverines 2-1 on Saturday (Oct.1) at Start International Academy.

The Wolverines needed a fast start to get the Racers on their heels, and they got it. In the 10th minute, the Maize & Blue earned a free kick outside the box. Robi Redzic stepped over the set piece and delivered a sublime ball into the box. Christian Cole was on the receiving end of the cross and slotted it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.  The Racers pressured the Wolverines the rest of the half, but Elijah Burlak made two key saves to preserve the UM-D lead heading into the half.

UNOH flipped the momentum coming out of the break and equalized the game just five minutes into the half. Both teams looked for the deciding goal, with the game tied at one. Unfortunately, the Racers would be on the receiving end of that as they beat Burlak in the 84th minute to take the 2-1 lead and the victory.
