DEARBORN, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-2-0) men's soccer team played with 10 men for most of the game on Wednesday (Aug 31). However, that did not stop them from putting forth a valiant effort against the Huntington University Foresters (2-1-0) inside Star International Academy. The Foresters tallied one goal, which was all they would need in a 1-0 defeat of the Wolverines. 

Inside the Match

The Wolverines put the initial pressure on the Foresters as Christian Cole was played through by Robbie Redzic in the opening minutes of the contest. However, Cole couldn't get a foot to the ball before the Forester defender sent it past the touchline for the Wolverine corner. 

Neither team could muster any scoring chances in the first half. However, the game switched the momentum in the 36th minute as Wolverine defender Arnes Besic was sent off. Playing with 10 men the rest of the way, the Wolverines were able to fend off the Foresters for the remaining minutes of the first half, and the teams went into the break deadlocked at zero. 

The Foresters would not wait long in the second half to change that. In the 47th minute, the Foresters broke through the Wolverine back-line and slotted one past Elijah Burlak's outstretched arms for the 1-0 lead. 

The Wolverine's best scoring chance came in the 55th minute when Redzic nestled one to the foot of Cole, who backheeled the ball through the Forester defender to an open Josiah Yoder. In a two-on-one opportunity, Yoder laid off a pass to a sprinting Andrew Schwartz, who collected himself and tried to beat the Huntington keeper to his left but narrowly missed.

The Foresters held on the remaining 35 minutes and collected their second win of the season.
